MenúAfter eleven years of struggle for an ideal, by the students and teachers from the only higher education institution, on May 7th of 1973, UPAEP’s foundation ceremony was carried out at the premises of the former ranch known as La Noria.
Our institution arose from a social, political, and ideological conflict experienced by the poblano society in the '60s and early '70s. Sectarian ideologies attempted against the autonomy and dignity of the University, causing a disruption of the order and the values of the poblano society.
UPAEP was a response to an emptiness suffered by the poblano society from the state and the region concerning higher education availability and to redeem the essence and mission of a university. Its foundation was a result of the collective effort by teachers, students, and social institutions and organizations, making UPAEP without any doubt, an actual work of solidarity by the poblano society.
UPAEP was born with bright ideas about its mission, with solid ideals experienced by its founders, based on transcendental values aiming to achieve high academic standards. The spirit of struggle and solidarity manifested back in the beginnings of UPAEP, have remained throughout four decades no matter the circumstances, contributing to its growth and consolidation, and also because of the confidence that society put in us, who have witnessed and confirmed the positive effect of the University's work. Therefore, UPAEP has fulfilled its mission and purpose of molding professionals and leaders with solid principles that contribute to the transformation of society towards better and more significant achievements consistent with the perpetual values of Truth, Good, Beauty, Justice, and Freedom.
